Angelica Rivera is well-known in Mexico for her varying roles on Mexican television. Rivera paved her own way young in life when she first ventured on to the set of a video that was being filmed on her street. Actress Verónica Castro spotted the young girl, and encouraged her to compete in a modeling contest.
In 1987, Angelica Rivera entered The Face of the Herald contest and won. This began a very long and illustrious career. After winning the contest, Rivera was hired to be a model in Luis Miguel’s video for the song “Now You Can Leave.” This brief exposure to film got her noticed and she immediately filmed two television and radio spots which were aired in both the United States and Japan. This provided a launching pad for the actresses’ international exposure and her fame began to grow.
After the success of those two different roles, Angelica Rivera went on to appear on a program on TNT and gained even more popularity. In 1989, Rivera’s career went into overdrive when she was offered a small role in the Mexican soap opera Dulce Desafío, with two of Mexico’s other ultra-famous actors, Adela Noriega and Eduardo Yáñez. Her incredible display of talent got her recognized and Rivera continued by taking up many other smaller roles over the next several years.
With years of acting under her belt, Angelica Rivera received her biggest break in 1991 when she was chosen to play Silvana in Alcanzar una estrella II. Rivera mastered her craft during this time and excelled at portraying the villainess. In addition to acting, Rivera was also presented with the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of several famous singers, including Ricky Martin. Mexico had known that this talented woman could act with the best of them, but this was the first time they had heard her sing. She shocked the country with her amazing voice, and this served to catapult her fame and enhance her already massive fan base.
Rivera played the evil protagonist on Alcanzar una estrella II so well that she continued in this manner as Marcia in the soap opera Mariana de la Noche, in 2003. Angelica Rivera decided to change career paths one more time when she took the lead role in Destilando amor in 2007. She plays Marcia to this day and has managed to acquire thousands of fans portraying a country girl who is in search of a better life in the big city.
She is a very popular public figure in Mexico and continues to win accolades for her acting and community service. In January of 2011, Rivera gave back to the community who loves her so much when she helped deliver more than 30 thousand toys to underprivileged children at the Kings Day celebration.
Angelica Rivera is an avid jogger and a vegetarian. She has maintained her popularity and amazing acting skills by continuing to pursue new roles that challenge her in every way.
